race format
-
16 teams
-
Teams will consist of 3 to 4 drivers
-
10 minutes of qualifying (1 driver per team)
-
3 hour race

two divisions
-
Teams will race in either Enduro Division 1, or Enduro Division 2.
-
Both divisions will be on track at the same time.
-
Each team will be assigned a division based on its estimated skill level, relative to the other teams.
-
These estimates are based on our prior knowledge of each driver. New drivers must participate in either qualifying or the first hour of the race to assess their skill level.
-
Preallocated divisions will be announced via email prior to raceday.
-
Whilst divisions will be preallocated before the race day, they may be changed prior to the completion of the first hour of the race.
-
Trophies and medals will be award to the top 3 teams in each division.

pit stop rules
-
Each team must complete a minimum of 7 pit stops during the race.
-
Stint lengths are to be a maximum of 30 minutes long.
-
Teams must notify the pit crew when they wish to make a stop, with around 3 minutes' notice, enough time to prepare the next driver in a new kart and wave the current driver in.
-
A line will be marked at the entry to the pitlane, and when crossed, a 20-second timer will be started.
-
At the end of the 20-second timer, their teammate can exit the pit lane.
-
Entering the pit lane too fast will result in a penalty.
-
All drivers must complete at least; 30 minutes of racing for a team of 4, or 45 minutes of racing for a team of 3

safety karts
-
A safety kart will be deployed in any caution period.
-
Every kart will be slowed down and the safety kart will collect the leader. Everyone will be bunched up, before releasing the pack to resume the race.
-
Teams will not be unlapped during safety kart periods.
-
Pit entry is closed during safety kart periods.
-
The pit exit will remain open to complete any ongoing pit stops.

other notable rules
-
Blue flags will not be employed during the race. Given the safety kart rules, teams are incentivised to stay on the lead lap.
-
While we will not be applying our regular incident rules system for this event, drive-through penalties will be awarded to drivers who drive dangerously and do not follow regular VHKC racing etiquette.

PRIZES
-
Every member of the top 3 teams will receive a medal commemorating their achievements.
-
The overall winner will have their team added to the perpetual VHKC Endurance Cup.

Why do teams require at least three drivers?
Teams need to have at least three drivers to ensure drivers have the endurance to meet their driving requirements and ensure each driver has enough time between stints to recuperate. As teams are also required to flag down their on-track driver to pit while the incoming driver is being strapped into a kart, this role will fall on the teams remaining drivers to perform.
Will VHKC help ensure each team stays with the rules for maximum stint times/mandatory pit stops/minimum driving time?
It will be each team’s responsibility to ensure that minimum driving times, mandatory pit stops and the maximum stint length is adhered to. Teams can choose whatever stint lengths, which shift each driver takes, what lap they’d like to pit on by themselves, as long as they comply with the rules and fit with other teams requests. The VHKC recommends having a framework plan in place prior to the race so each team isn’t trying to pit on the same lap. The VHKC admin staff will be in the garage at the back of the pit lane to help with any requests like how much time each driver has on track, how many pit stops the team is yet to complete or when their last stint began.
Why does there need to be a minimum 20 second within the pit lane rule for each team once the incoming kart has crossed the pit lane line?
This is so the A1 Supa Karts staff can transfer your team over from the incoming kart to the outgoing kart to continue your race with their system. It also allows for any delays in kart preparation to be dealt with by venue staff and allows for the VHKC staff to assess any penalties from the previous stint if required.
Will the VHKC be employing their normal stewarding process?
All stewarding will be assessed on the day, via two non-racing stewards who will make stewarding decisions based on what they see while on track. Because of this, it is likely that only the infringements that normally result in 4 or more incident points at a regular VHKC round will be enforced. These penalties will mainly be enforced via 20 second stop and go penalties, but may also be enforced by throttling karts for a specific period of time via the venue’s De Haardt system. Because stewards will be making assessments line of sight, affected teams will not have a means to appeal a stewarding decision.
Why doesn’t every driver get a chance to qualify the kart?
Teams can choose the one driver they’d like to qualify on behalf of the team. The longer a race, the less important your qualifying position. Bendigo has been chosen as the venue for VHKC’s first enduro event because it allows for side by side racing and many overtaking opportunities so that, along with the fact that each team will race 8 different karts throughout the race will mean that each team will have periods of advantage and disadvantage throughout the race, just like any professional endurance racing event. Running qualifying sessions for each driver makes a long day even longer for drivers, staff and patrons alike, and given the amount of time each driver will get on track and the lower importance of qualifying, running 3-4 sessions of qualifying becomes redundant.
Will VHKC be sorting drivers into divisions for the race?
Based on the feedback we received from drivers, the Enduro Cup will be a no division race. Meaning every kart on track will be directly racing each other for position. While this means teams of drivers normally racing Division 1 will be racing against teams of drivers normally racing Division 2 or lower, this no division race means drivers don’t have to worry about letting karts from other divisions pass or be delayed by karts in a lower division. Everyone can focus on the racing and fight for every position like there’s an Enduro Cup on the line!
Will VHKC be allowing karts to unlap themselves during safety kart periods if they fall a lap behind?
No we will not, teams are incentivised to stay on the lead lap. This, combined with no blue flags being employed, will allow teams to fight to remain on the lead lap if the leaders are in close proximity. However, as the safety kart will pick up the leading kart, a kart who is just about to be lapped by the leader as the yellow flags are displayed will be given the opportunity to catch up to the back of the pack, if it is safe to do so.
Will any of the VHKC staff be racing?
Yes, some of the VHKC staff will be racing, but those who are racing will not be performing any official duties on the day to avoid any perceived bias.
