Everything Comes Down to Bayswater: The Season 4 Championship Picture

After five rounds across five very different circuits, we are approaching the conclusion of another VHKC season. We look ahead to a finale hosted at one of the most challenging venues on the calendar, Karting Madness Bayswater.

Bayswater’s narrow layout and technical corners leave it all up to the drivers.

After a long season, everyone’s hand has now been dealt. What happens next is up to them.

Division 1 - Damon and Tony Take the Title Fight to Bayswater

Damon Martin enters the finale at the top of Division 1, holding a 34-point advantage over Tony Kazakovski.

Damon was established as an early championship favourite, winning the opening two rounds at Auscarts and Braybrook. He added another strong result with second place at Ace Karts and has remained at the front, despite a rough round at Bendigo.

The target for Damon is straightforward: finishing ninth or better will guarantee the Division 1 championship. Finishing outside the top 9, would expose him to the threat of Tony Kazakovski, being the only other driver in the title fight.

Meanwhile, the battle for the third is incredibly close.

Tyron Wade, Andre Polendakis and two-time Division 1 champion Luke De Vuono are tied on 382 points. Shannon Murray follows on 380, with Ted Hercus a further two points behind.

Whilst being the furthest behind, Ted is the biggest threat in this group. Bayswater is his home track, making him a strong favourite for the race victory, and thus the third place trophy.

Division 2 - Kyan Completes a Dominant Campaign

Kyan Robins-Pittock enters the final round with 472 points following an outstanding run all season long.

After finishing second at the opening round, Kyan went on to win at Stony Creek, Ace Karts and Bendigo. That run of three consecutive victories opened an 84-point advantage over the rest of the field.

With that in mind, the fight behind Kyan remains wide open. Riley Gorman holds second on 388 points, with Brock Martin in third on 379. Kaylum Gietzmann follows on 376, Ben O’Connor on 373 and Trent Pilven on 372.

Only 16 points separate second through sixth.

Several of those drivers produced their strongest performances in the most recent rounds. Kaylum finished second at Ace Karts, while Trent and Ben completed the podium behind Kyan at Bendigo.

As outdoor track specialists, Riley and Brock have banked strong results across the last 3 rounds as well. However, Kaylum looms large for the race win and championship silverware, with the season finishing at his home track. 

A strong result could be the difference in the fight for the Division 2 podium.

Division 3: One Point Separates the Leaders

No championship battle is closer than Division 3.

Oscar Bostock leads the standings with 402 points. Ashton Giblin sits just one point behind on 401.

Oscar’s rise has been one of the most impressive stories of the season. Last season he finished fifth in Division 4. One season later, he heads to Bayswater leading the Division 3 championship.

But Ashton is keeping him honest, with consistent results all season. Only 1 point separates them, and whichever driver has the best result at Bayswater, will likely be our Division 3 champion.

Saying that, Division 3 is far from a two-driver contest.

Brodie Plumridge is in firm contention, trailing the leader by 14 points, while reigning Division 4 champion Kyan Hazelman trails by 18. With four genuine championship contenders and only one point separating the top two, Division 3 is all up for grabs.

The Team Championships

Whilst our drivers championship is coming to a heated conclusion, our two Teams Championships are also coming to a close.

Kart-strophies leads the Division 1 team championship on 1,455 points, ahead of Transpec Motorsports on 1,333 and DC Racing on 1,254.

Ted Hercus will be chasing a home-track victory for Kart-strophies, whilst Damon Martin’s pursuit of the Division 1 drivers’ championship will also strengthen Transpec Motorsports’ position.

In the combined second division Team championship, Ashworth Electrical WonderWorks3D Racing holds the lead with 1,246 points. 

Clown Car Racing sits second on 1,059, narrowly ahead of the Piastri Chefs on 1,041. Scuderia Corsara and CM Racing remain close behind, leaving plenty still to be decided at Bayswater.

The Finale

Every circuit on the Season 4 calendar has asked something different of our drivers and now Bayswater is our final test.

Damon needs ninth for his first Division 1 championship. Tony must win and hope for favourable results.

Kyan Robins-Pittock arrives as the confirmed Division 2 champion, but six drivers remain locked in a fierce battle for the remaining silverware.

In Division 3, only one point separates Oscar Bostock and Ashton Giblin, with Brodie Plumridge and Kyan Hazelman ready to pounce.

Five rounds down, one to go, and at Bayswater, nothing comes easy.
